ARTESIA — Due to language discrepancies in the Eddy County Commission’s proposed Hold Harmless Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) ordinance, the public hearing and special meeting set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Artesia Center has been postponed.
The commission learned Monday that certain wording within the ordinance did not meet New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department requirements, including the titling of the ordinance as a “County Road” Hold Harmless GRT.
The commission was slated to hear public comment on the proposed final two-eighths of 1 percent GRT increase, followed by a potential vote, Thursday.
A new date for the hearing and special meeting will be finalized at today’s commission meeting.
