Sarah Savage, a first-year fifth-grade teacher at Roselawn Elementary School, and her class pose for a photo after winning first place in the recent Citelighter Writing Contest. Citelighter is a comprehensive online program created by teachers, entrepreneurs and technologists that helps students develop the writing skills to communicate their ideas clearly and powerfully. The contest asked students to write argumentative papers on the topic “Alligators vs. Humans: Who Should Be More Afraid of Who?” Savage’s class of 28 students won, with Citelighter stating “they did a wonderful job with answering the prompt using textual evidence.” Savage will receive a $200 gift card to use in her classroom.
