1-31-RPD-ChildAbuseA Roswell woman charged with child abuse may have fled the city, and the Roswell Police Department is asking for the public’s help in providing any information that could assist in tracking her down.

Evette Salcido, 42, was formally charged Friday with abuse of a child in connection with an incident that occurred Jan. 20. Salcido is accused of physically abusing a 2-month-old boy, whose mother is a relative of hers. Salcido was watching the boy while his mother was attending classes.

The mother discovered the baby showed signs of abuse when she returned home that night.

The RPD investigation has gathered information indicating Salcido may have fled to Ruidoso or perhaps as far as Nashville, Tenn. However, the possibility exists she could still be in the Roswell area. She may have her 7-year-old son with her.

Salcido is described as 5’4” weighing 220 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with potential information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact the RPD at 624-6770 or Chaves County Crimestoppers at 1-888-594-TIPS (8477).
