No services are scheduled for Russell Kenneth Wagoner of Artesia.

Wagoner, 81, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at his home.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Russell was born March 4, 1936, in Blue Hill, Neb., to Kenneth Dale and Mary Evelyn (Martin) Wagoner. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959-65.

On June 9, 1984, he married Dana Lynn Smith in Springer.

Russell lived in Artesia several times before moving here for good in 2004 from Aztec. He worked as a maintenance man for the Bloomfield School District, then became a correctional officer. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching football and other sports. His love in life was his family.

Survivors include daughters Michele Wagoner and Kimberly Valenzuela, both of Cimarron, and Riannon Wagoner of Artesia; son Dale Wagoner and wife Brenda of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother Joel Wagoner of Blue Hill; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dana Wagoner, in 2011, and his parents.
