All New Mexico residents who are active-duty military or military veterans were thanked for their service Thursday in Santa Fe during Military and Veterans’ Day in the state Senate. The legislature passed a memorial stating, “New Mexicans realize that freedom does not come without a cost, and that freedom has been fought for by our active-duty service members and military veterans.” The memorial pointed out 170,000 veterans and military retirees reside in the state, which houses four military installations. The memorial further ordered that “gratitude be extended to New Mexico’s current and former military service members for their service and sacrifices for their country.”
