Above, rtesia Public Library librarian Peggy Jo Swafford receives a Certificate of Recognition from Mayor Raye Miller Tuesday during a celebration in honor of her 50 years of service. The certificate praised Swafford for her “50 years of commitment to our community and your profession.” The longtime library employee also received a certificate from the New Mexico State Library in honor of her milestone. Many Artesians dropped by the event Tuesday to congratulate Swafford, share memories and stories, and enjoy refreshments, including the book-shaped cake below.
