An arrest warrant was issued this afternoon for a Roswell man accused of fatally shooting a woman during an argument inside a hotel room in north Roswell.
Roswell Police Department detectives filed the criminal complaint in magistrate court and obtained an arrest warrant for Jeremy Hawkins, 35, who remains at large.
Hawkins is charged with an open count of murder in connection with the shooting death of Ashley Sena, 31, of Roswell, who is believed to have been his girlfriend.
Sena’s body was found on the afternoon of Aug. 4 when hotel staff entered the room at Comfort Suites in the 3600 block of North Main Street. She had been shot once in the face.
Investigators believe that following the shooting, Hawkins, who cannot legally possess a firearm due to a prior felony conviction for child abuse, discarded the murder weapon elsewhere. Investigators also believe Hawkins later intimidated or threatened two individuals regarding the case.
In addition to the murder charge, Hawkins faces one count of tampering with evidence, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of intimidation of a witness.
Anyone with information as to Hawkins’ whereabouts is urged to call the RPD at 624-6770 or, anonymously, Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-TIPS (8477).
