Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Glenda Faye Maurer of Artesia.

Maurer, 68, left this earth to be with her heavenly father Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at her home, with her husband and children by her side.

Dr. Ed Hickey will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her son, Michael Maurer, and grandsons Ohlin Skeen, Greg Davis, William Davis, Preston Maurer, Dakota Maurer, Michael Maurer and Kayden Sallee. Honorary pallbearers are sons-in-law David Skeen, Ronny Davis and Jeremy Sallee.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Glenda was born July 7, 1951, in Meadow, Texas, the daughter of Preston and Letha (Malone)

Gotcher.

On Dec. 28, 1971, she married Michael Maurer in Virginia Beach, Va.

Glenda enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, bowling, cooking, watching “Days of Our Lives,” and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids and her best friend since early childhood, Shirley (Gibson) Caple. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Michael; children Gayla Skeen and husband David of Alto, and Tammy Davis and husband Ronny, Michael Maurer Jr. and wife Toni, and Jennifer Sallee and husband Jeremy, all of Artesia; grandchildren Ohlin and Annalyn Skeen, Greg, Kendra, Tawny and William Davis, Preston, Dakota, Marly and Michael Maurer, and Kaylie, Katelynn and Kayden Sallee; five great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Letha Gotcher; siblings Betty Sinclair, Laverne Strawn, Buford Gotcher, Richard Gotcher and Preston Gotcher; and four nephews.

Glenda was loved by many, a true joy to be around, and will be missed tremendously.
