Have you ever wanted to help out a worthy local cause, but you’re pretty busy and not exactly sure who needs what?

The Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center has put together a small traveling display that has some simple options for helping out Artesia’s nonprofit service organizations.

The display contains a collection of “action cards” for people to pick up — small business cards with a needed action, activity, or service on the front, and the recipient organization’s contact information on the back. The action cards are for small, do-able things such as: donate snack supplies; donate copier paper; donate a roll of stamps; donate your time, etc.

The idea is to break down an organization’s needs into smaller, easier-to-manage services in the hopes of inspiring busy people (YOU!) to help out. The display debuted at the Changing Lives Coalition’s Open House and has also been hosted by the Artesia Public Library. The Artesia Chamber of Commerce is currently hosting the display.

This project was inspired by the Santa Cruz (Calif.) Museum of Art and History’s current exhibit “Lost Childhoods,” the Artesia Chamber of Commerce’s Power Lunch Spring 2017 series, and the Friends of the Library’s early summer Volunteer Fair.

If you’re interested in hosting this display in your high-traffic business or public place, or if you’re part of a nonprofit organization and would like for your organization’s needs to be included in this project, please contact the museum at artesiamuseum@artesianm.gov.
