Kick off 2018 by spending β€œAn Evening with Groucho Marx!”

The Marx Brothers revolutionized the world of comedy. From vaudeville to Broadway to film, they made millions laugh with classics such as β€œAnimal Crackers,” β€œDuck Soup” and β€œA Night at the Opera.”

Dubbed by the New York Times as β€œAmerica’s most gifted funny man,” Groucho Marx is today considered the father of modern comedy; his influence extends from β€œM*A*S*H” to Jerry Seinfeld to Woody Allen.

Irreverence, satire, and social commentary filtered through ingenious physical comedy and wordplay are all hallmarks of Groucho’s humor. Throughout the 1950s, television audiences were able to rediscover the Marx Brothers, and in 1973, Groucho accepted an honorary Academy Award in recognition of his β€œbrilliant creativity” and the β€œunequalled achievements” of the Marx Brothers.

Now, Frank Ferrante brings it all to life again through β€œAn Evening with Groucho Marx.” He is β€œnothing short of masterful” in his portrayal, according to the Chicago Tribune, and the Seattle Times says Ferrante β€œdoes for Groucho what Hal Holbrook does for Mark Twain.”
Ferrante is an actor and director of stage, film and television, and directed the premiere of the Pulitzer finalist β€œOld Wicked Songs.”

Artesians won’t want to miss his tribute to Groucho, which will take the stage at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.artesiaartscouncil.com or by calling the OPAC box office at 746-4212.
