Susie, or Sue, as her friends called her, was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Moberly, Mo.

She moved to Artesia as a toddler with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. CA Stryjewski. She graduated from Artesia High School in 1962. In 1966, she graduated from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

She married Bernie Sujka on June 24, 1974. They had two children, Eric and Kristin.

Susie spent most of her career teaching at TVI in Albuquerque. She believed you must be born to be a teacher to succeed in teaching. She retired in 2004 and moved to Chandler, Ariz., to be close to her daughter. She loved reading, doing puzzles, eating, shopping, and spending time with friends.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernie; and her son, Eric.

She is survived by daughter Kristin Diegle, son-in-law Chad, and two grandsons, Dylan and Collin Diegle; and her two sisters, Bonnie Sego of Los Lunas and Sylvia Johnson of the Artesia area.

Susie passed away Feb. 1 after a four-month battle with cancer. Services were held Saturday, Feb. 6, at Desert Cross Lutheran Church in Gilbert, Ariz. She was 71.
