It’s hard to believe, but the Artesia Public Schools 2017-18 school year will begin on Monday, Aug. 14.

It can be an expensive time of year for parents and students, and the 7024U Youth Outreach Center wants to help by collecting and distributing school supplies for students who need help with this.

7024U is part of the Changing Lives Coalition and will be working with school principals and counselors to make sure all donated supplies go to children who need them. They are seeking donations of:

• spiral notebooks (wide-ruled)
• notebook paper (wide-ruled)
• washable markers
• pencil-top erasers
• Elmer’s glue
• No. 2 pencils
• glue sticks
• large erasers
• Fiskars scissors
• colored pencils
• red/blue/black pens
• plastic folders (with pockets and brads)
• Crayola crayons
• composition notebooks

Donations can be dropped off at the Artesia Chamber of Commerce or the Artesia Center. For more information, contact Kelcey George, 7024U director, at 736-7024.

Thank you, Artesia!
